If we allow other things to supersede our number one priority, is that thing (whatever it may be) really a priority? Or are we just kidding ourselves and others?

We say getting in better shape is our number one priority, but then we watch TV and skip the gym. TV is the priority.

We say spending more time with family is our number one priority, but continue working many hours and miss dinner. Work is the priority.

We say finishing that project is our number one priority, but then spend all day in meetings and miss a deadline. Being in meetings all day is the priority.

We will find – or make – the time to do the things that are truly important to us. Just because we say something is our number one priority doesn’t make it so. If we allow our priorities to get bumped down the list, then maybe those “priorities” are not so important after all.

As the old saying goes – actions speak louder than words.

What’s your priority?
